hi, no they are not that bad at all. They are quite decent as entry level products.....

you must hear them to find out how they rate with the other imports.

Second that Neckie,

It all depends on what you are comparing them to !!

Unfortunately once you get bitten this bug,it's called "Audiophilia Nervosia",I believe, your benchmarks of good, better, best, unfortunately undergo constant revision.

yes , norge would be a good comparision, though I heard them both together on lithos speakers and thought pulz had an edge.

.......yup how true....manek talks about the NAD and arita combo and the enjoyment he gets by these two...but ask him he would honestly love to have a Cadence tube amp and cadence arca's.he would be happy for a week or so...and needs a LP player....beleive he would never evre sell his NAD and arita...would retain it...this is greedy and one swell hobby..unfortunately.we have been bit.....or maybe some are born with it.cheers.burp

SUB,

YES ! I would honestly love to have the cadence canasya and the arca's if I could afford them.....!

Would I sell my aritas ? no! Would I still love to buy the arca's and the canasya ? yes.

Would I sell my nad 320bee, maybe in a few years, not when the amp is in its prime.

You have my answers.

Manek,
Just for my knowledge, why do you say that the Pulz/Lithos combo is better.

Is the Pulz/Lithos combo more detailed than Norge ?

Pulz I thought had a fuller sound with more weight, a bit clearer...norge sound was a bit thin.

Hi all,
Since we are talking about some entry level stuff and that too Indian, so I want to discuss about Sonodynes also. Has any one heard the Sonodyne integrated Stereo amps (the latest ones which are used with the Sonus Towers for demo) ? Please put down your sincere comments on them. It is priced at 12k. Few days back I went to their showroom (in Bangalore) and gave them a 2 paise worth advice. I told them to have a better 2 channel amp (I meant a higher end amp) from any other brand (if not Sonodyne) to audition their Sonus Towers to public. I have seen most of the dealers including Bose use good high-end amps to demonstrate their speakers. This has basically two advantages, first of all their products sound better and secondly people like us get to know how the speakers sound with a Standard high-end amp. We can then actually compare the potentials of the speakers much better. I told the Sonodyne guy very clearly that anyone who buys a 22k worth Sonus tower speakers, mostly will not play it with a 10k worth amp so they should atleast go in for something like the Rotel, Nad, Denon stuff to show case their speakers to the world.

Coming back to the point, has anyone auditioned the Sonodyne integrated Stereo amp ? How do they sound as compared to Pulz ?

hi Abhi,

I have auditioned the SA8000 and SA4000 ,i feel they are good for Sonus range...as you suggested they deserve better amps and the Sonodyne amps available now look too cheap for the price and performance is nothing close to what they used to deliver in their earlier models..........in fact when my SA580 was driven to Sonus in service center sfter service sounded much better.....so they have to seriously think of a better model if they wish to stay in the budget amp market...

Hi sub-boss,
Man, I am more worried by the fact that they use those cheap amps to demonstrate the Sonus towers !!!! What the hell are they doing, the amps are cheap so it can be given any kind of treatment but the towers are good but even then they are not acclaimed much because of lack of a good amp !!! I know Sonodyne has to re-work a lot to manufacture a good amp but it doesn't require much to give the sonus a better amp from Nad or Denon just for demo purpose. Why dont they understand such basics and messing around with one of their flagship products like the Sonus !!!!!

May be it's just another dhanda pani type decision ,
talking seriously..if my 12 yr old amp can make such a diffrence ...then an amp like NAD would do wonders...or they don't have a tie-up..with other brands....or just determined that their amps to outsell the Sonus.....or mayu be they are using the Sonus as a platform to sell their amps......is altogether a diffrent question.....but I vote for the fact that they deserve better components

hey Boss,
I am sincerely telling you, I like the Sonus and have a lot of drive to buy it but just because I am unable to evaluate it with a Seasoned 2 channel amp like the Nads, I am unable to take the decission. Many people have raised questions against its overall Sound quality and tonality but none seems to have considered that it is being demonstrated with the cheapest amp possible in its class. I liked the Torvin phantom9 also but I found that the listening room that it was played in had a lot of damping materials and infact a THX certified wall carpet was used in the room. Apart from that it was being played with a decent Yamaha 2 channel amp. After all this, it sounded good so it remains a question whether it will keep its composure in our normal living room ?? Anyway, I said this just to emphasize how much extra dealers spend to make their products sound good and make it more sellable but Sonodyne seems to be least bothered.....I am irritated Boss, everytime I think of visiting the Sonodyne listening room, I find those cheap stereo amps infront of my eyes and I drop the plan immediately. God knows when will I get a good news from you people that finally Sonodyne has purchased some good components to show case its proud Sonus towers............
BTW have you auditioned the Torvins.....
