Does anyone know howto or if it is easy to convert a pair of Mark Levinson 33h to 240V:s?

Anyone know how much it would cost to get it done by the distribuitor?

Hi!
First of all this is an awesome amp. Yes It can be converted to 230v, but better it is done by the authorised ML dealer. As then the warranty will hold good.

I would say if you can get away with using a 230v to 110v converter, then do it and not open the amp. yeah....very nice amp !

Maybe a 230V-110V converter would work but it would be rather expensive since the rated maxiumum power output of the 33h are very high.

Sorry....maybe I'm on the wrong track....why would a simple external voltage convertor be expensive ? Correct me if I'm wrong but all you need is a 230v to 110v stepdown device connected to your amp mains input, right ?

Yes in priciple, but they are always limited in power. A converter this most likely costs about 2000$. So most likely it is cheaper to get them properly converted by I dealer. I was just interested so see if anyone had a schematic or something so I could do it by my self (quite skilled eletrical engineer).

Hi! MMx2,
If I were you, I will never use a step down converter as it will degrade the sound quality plus you will need a hi-power one.

A client got his OUTLAW AUDIO (5 X 200W RMS) power amp running through a 5kva step down converter made in the USA. In India you get piddliy 20-50w converters, unless a manufacturer can make it for you.

Send an email to ML and ask them for instructions to do the needful, they will give it or direct you to a ML dealer. where are you located???

I live in Sweden. I actually sent an email to ML and they post poned me to the nordic distributor, they on the other hand post poned me back to ML...

Going round in circles I see.
Probably time to look at european brands to make sure your amp plugs into your mains without much trouble ?

As you have mentioned, With high power amps putting in a filter/convertor or any other current limiting device will definitely affect the dynamics of the sound.They seem to work OK only with Pure calss A amps which always draw the same amount of current.

The best (only ?) way forward is modification of the power section.since you ar not gettingmuch joy from theDealers, Have you tried

www.DIYaudio.com ? even Audio Asylum should be able to connect you to people who have done it or would do it for a fee

The PS audio power regenerators also would not be able to handle the instantaneous high power requirements by your amp !

BTW Other option may be to upgrade
