hi viren , looks very good. The harmony series are full range single driver designs (Edited out the word Lowther.. did not read your website well enough the first time) Look quite similiar to the Cain & Cain speakers A question regarding your Amps/preamps. Any reason why you do not believe in Remote Control options ? Do you feel they interfere with sound quality ? The follwing link is very interesting to read ! http://www.lyrita-audio.in/audiofile.htm [Beitrag von Arj am 28. Jul 2006, 12:33 bearbeitet] |

Hi Arj, The Harmony One and Two use drivers from Fostex. Fostex manufactures drivers that are suitable for transmission line and bass-reflex cabinets, and others more suited to horn-loaded designs. I think the Lowther units are best in horn-loaded cabinets. I just didn't have it in me to learn about horn-loaded designs. Therefore, the tapered quarter-wave cabinets. The apparent simplicity of these designs, and the much lower cost of the Fostex units were the overriding factors. There's not much you can vary in these designs - they all look similar (such as the Cain $ Cain Abbey). Positioning the driver around the centre of the cabinet is very much a design feature - optimizing this position smooths out the mid-bass response. I have always looked at simplifying my designs, so have not put in any unnecessary circuitry in the amps. That includes remote controls. Though, just recently, I did include infra-red remote volume and balance controls in my valve preamp for two customers who insisted on them. These were expensive units, based on logic switching. They did create some problems - some high frequency hash was induced into the audio circuits from all those ICs, and had to be filtered out. Even a motorized pot needs control circuitry, and an infra-red receiver - I'm sure similar problems can happen there. In my experience, nothing like a simple manual pot - the high quality DACT units are excellent. If possible, get the remote volume option in your source player. There's always a remote there anyway. I SORELY miss a remote control on my Prima Luna.. Often needed to set just the right volume when everything falls into place, and the sound stage is just right. My 2 kids, when in an obliging mood, are fair substitutes.. I feel that ANY form of volume control compromises sound quality... its a matter of selecting the lesser of evils.... manual or remote. But a GOOD Remote Volume control solution could easily cost a significant portion of the Pre amp cost.... A Volume control on most CD players is the WORST... since it reduces the digital word length ( and therefore the resolution of the music ) to reduce the volume. These should ALWAYS be set to max, and use some other form of Volume adjustment.... |

Hi Amp Nut, If the volume control is on the analogue signal, it should not cause any loss of resolution. Another remote option would be to have an independent unit between the preamp and amp to control volume and balance. That could be inserted between any equipment. Viren. |

in case of digital Volume control is used, only Wadia and dCS have the method (to my knowledge) of doing so without any loss in resolution. their websites have all the info on it. I feel that is actually the best option and then feed the output to a power amp ! |

Yes, Arj, You are correct. I had pointed out about Wadia's way of doing things in a post some months ago on this forum. However, even in that case ( wadia ) there IS is loss of digital Resolution, in the volume control... Only Wadia starts at 20 bits ( or is it 24 bits ? ) so that even if 4 bits are lost, the result is still 16 bits ( CD standard ) or better. |

Hi all, I am quite convinced now to continue to sell direct only, to keep prices at a reasonable level. I have talked to a number of retailers about keeping my products. The retailers in Delhi, sad to say, know very little about audio - most are traders. Products such as these, sell by demonstration only. These dealers ability to effectively demo products is doubtful, to say the least. High-end audio dealers also end up having a conflict of interest. How do you effectively sell an Indian brand that may sound as good, against well known imported brands that are priced far higher? So, sorry, no dealers. You will have to visit me in Delhi to audition Lyrita Audio products. Of course, if I have customers in your area, you are most welcome to audition the products there - that arrangement can be made. And, you are most welcome here, anytime. Viren. |

Hi Viren, Nice decision and wish you the best for this. Nice to see original designs ! a suggestion. would something like a Paypal id be good for you for managing web transactions ? Lots of direct sales have that option and I have often used it myself. Also, That way buying CDs from you would be a easier option as you do have an interesting collection |
