Just thought of a quick update for thsoe interested..

i just figured out the reson for that pain in the a## humm..
the trimmer pots are causing the hum when i vary the crossover settings..
so now its more like finding the area where i have the least distortion ratehr tahn findding a balance.

I think its down to the PCB being quite big and no kind of resin layer protecting the tracks..and also the proximity of te crossover board to the transformers...in anycase..now the humm is not noticable..u can hear it only when u position ur ear 2 inches from the cone..or in the middle of the night..

Also, with the fact that i cannot tune my settings owing to the humm which aggravates when i vary the trimmer pots i have left it in its current position..
the treble is toned down quite a bit..though i feel its a bit sharp when Knofler or Gilmore fire up..the mids are a bit forward...but better than before..

The bass is one area i have no complaints about..its almost too good to believe..more than worth the 22$, those woofers are..

only sad that i have to leave tonight to mysore..hardly four hours of listening..back to the drudgery of IT life..
