The Plinius amp is a great amp, great that you heard the entire system and liked it.

Now just sit back and enjoy the system & ofcourse now invest in good music.

Dump the Monster cables though IMHO.

Hey guys thanks a lot....
One of the best part of this deal was, I could get the system at home for a an audition for 1 WEEK (or even more) and then finally if I liked it then I could keep it else return it without any strings attached. So that was something that I never expected.
I never knew Audience52 being a bookshelf speaker can do such awesome bass...but it did in my hall and I was thrilled.
So today we finally agreed that ITS A DEAL.
I feel soooooo fortunate..

About the monster cable...I am going to upgrade them very soon..
But it sounds sooooo nice even with these.

Yes, its the same Plinius 8200 but unfortunately he didnt listen to it with the Dynaudios so his comments and opinion may differ from mine. Believe me, it sounds out of this world with those Audience52s, its an addiction and it connects to your heart and mind so instantaneously that you just cant get up from your seat. Thats what is my opinion though, but you guys have to come over to listen and evaluate.

Anyway guys, now you have to help me finding a good stand for the Audience52 speakers. Currently its placed on my previous Sonodyne speakers seperated by thick 1.5 inch ply (just as an isolation between the two cabinets).
But that doesnt allow me to adjust the height of the speakers and also might be affecting the rigidity of the speakers. I have heard that Dynaudios does demand good stands to sound its optimum. So please let me know what stands to go for and where can I get them.

i would suggest getting a DIY one made by Mr Murthy. i saw some at Prithvis place ant thought they were rather well done.

Infact I even heard that he makes Dynaudio clones (I mean similar stands that Dynaudios make). I can check them out.

Man…..your really need good stands. You need sturdy metal stands preferably sand filled and heavy and place the speakers on three metal cones (if your speakers does not have spikes). You will be surprised what those speakers can do. Avoid those horrid 2k metal stands which I usually see with most hi-dealers. Get a good one done by Murthy.

Yup...get your stands from Murthy...I got my rack built from him and I could feel the difference in the sound right from the word go!

Choose the hieght based on your seating arrangement and get those heavy, sand-fillable stands as square_wave has suggested...

I don’t know about this. But most good stands I have seen except some estoric hi-end ones are all metal which can be filled with sand. Even the stands supplied by linn for their bk speakers are metal and similar to the ones Murthy makes.
You can actually do better with Granite and such rigid heavy stuff but practical reasons make it unviable. They will weigh a ton and very cumbersome. If you have your own home and can have a permanent setup which does not have to be moved, you could get such stuff done.

Cadence comes with wooden stands for their spkrs, maybe you should check up with someone who owns a pair of cadence. I guess Manek has the Aritas...they should be with all wood stands...

a sturdy metal stand should be able to do the trick for you...if they are sand fillable, you can always fill them to get better stability...why don't you talk to Murthy once?

Slightly off topic, but to do with stands.

I too use "book shelf" speakers, on stands.

Please pay great attention to the Height of the stand.

The stand should place the speakers at ear level, when you are sitting at the 'sweet spot.'

The speakers need not be toed in to your ears, but the tweeter height with respect to your ears is important.

Hence the stand height will be dependent on the speaker size, your height and the seat / sofa height...

If the stand is not tall enough, you could get a soundstage that lies between the floor and your ears, while ideally you should have a sound stage that is above and below your eye level.

You could experiment with the seapker height, specially if you are planning to get the stands custom built.

By the way, I had got wooden stands custom made for just Rs 2500 for a pair. They look beautiful but I need to hear my speakers with a proper metal stand to comment if they are better than wooden ones.

I have auditioned the Krell KAV-2250 with a Dynaudio Audience 82 and Wadia CDP (for 4 hours at a stretch)..........you know what a Plinius 8200 beats the pants out of that Krell monster.
Yes....I mean it. Come over to my place if you wanna take it further........I agree that Krells have a lot of power reserve to drive difficult loads. But talking about listenable levels of music, Plinius is way way way more involving and musical.
Cmon buddy......I know you can drag this discussion for another 100 postings without coming to a conclusion...
So why dont you drop in sometimes....I dont have a krell to give you an A/B comparision at my place but still if you have heard the Krell then its good enough to realise that PLINIUS IS GOD......

This is exactly what we were discussing in another thread. Taste and preferences. There are people who swear by krell. People who tried out everything and settled down with krell. But some like Plinius better. I know at least three senior audiophiles in Bangalore who can’t stand brystons. The issue is with voicing. I guess we need to respect others educated preferences. Just ignore him Abhi. He will go away.

Does it really matter TH? Abhi likes his system better than Krell. If you like Krell better, good for you dude. Just because it costs more doesn't mean it's better! With that theory Bose systems should sound far superior than the humble Wharfedale Diamond.

I really want to know why either of you like your amps enough to buy them.It would help solve this issue.

I never said anything about krell or Plinius. I was talking about bryston. And I never said Krell is bad. Hell, I have never listened to one. From what I have heard, they are awesome. Unless I audition one in the same room with the same speakers, source and music with a plinius sa 102, I can’t comment on its voicing.
My comment on bryston is to illustrate the fact that people are different and need to be treated differently. Nothing else.
