Hi guru's

Was browsing the neutrik website and hit upon their section on transformers for audio. Some for use with mics and some for line level signals.

Any of you techies used these ? If so how do they compare with say with the lundahl or jensen ? Just curious.Being neutrik I assume they should have a consistently decent quality.wonder if they are for home audio apps or just for studios ?

Neutrik is a professional grade products, where Lundhal desigs many products specifically for hi-end application...including use of exotic material for core.

Now having said that it also depends on the application. What transformer is this...and what is it used for.

Is it a balanced line driver, isolation transformer, step-up ... ?

Hi

I don't understand why most of are hesitant to use studio grade components or equipments for hifi application. If it is good for the making the recording shouldn't it be equally good for reproducing it ?

Please don't jump at me with studio monitors not good for home use, there the requirements are different, just like a track race car not good for road race

Studio purchases are driven by Hard Nosed economics, based on returns, and what the customer will bear ( as rental of the facilities)

Audiophiles are a more romatic lot.. driven by emotion and a pursiut for the ultimate quality ( sadly often restricted by what the studio records )

Some studio have installed Hi end Cables and they hype / point this out, as a USP. Audiophiles often concurr that recordings from such studios and Boutique studios DO sound better.

Now just think How Much Better recordings could get if the Studios were owned by audiophiles .... :-)

Some like Sheffield Labs, XRCDs, amd MF have carved out a premium nechie by using audiophile ghrade stuff throughout their chain.

There are also studios that do an absolutely miserable, crappy job.

I remember years ago ( cassette era ) when a friend working at a Chennai studio told me of software that could change (reduce ) the duration of the song by 2% to 3% without changing the pitch!

That was used often when using Unsold cassettes, which were bulk erased, and if the tape was a little short for the new album, the software did its trick....

An then ofcourse there is the usual .... Record to get a consistently high output volume... usually due to Heavy compression...

I dont think most studio guys love music / sound... its only a business...

Like most creative pursuits, you decide to base your livelihood on it because it's your passion. Later it becomes a business.
