Permutation Combinations are astounding..If you could give an approx budget I could try. Speaking in USD a decen HT can range from USD 2500 to USD 25000 (Actually much much more as well...but let us be reasonable) If you could give the following info, I could help out 1. Budget 2. Size of HT room 3. Preference for speakers ie LArge, bookshelf, satellite, electrostats, on the wall etc etc.. Or else you could go thru the setups in the following site. http://www.ecoustics.com/Home/Home_Theater/ Cheers! |

For speaker systems, the Best I have heard are Speakers: Definitive Technology, Klipsch,M&K and Infinity, Energy, Mirage Subwoofer: SVS (Cylinder series) - Period ! Surround Processor: Marantz, Rotel,Denon,Onkyo,Pioneer Projector : Sharp, Mitsubishi DVD P- most are good..but popular being Pioneers and Marantz's Also dont forget the Projector Screens, AV cables |

Arj, Budget is about $11,000. That includes everything. I could get stuff at about almost half the price from what they quote on the net , so keep that in mind. His room is about 20 feet by 16 feet, with the screen on the 16 feet wall. But both the side walls have huge open windows. And he wants a 7.1 system with floor standers, center panel, subwoofer, back side top and bottom. |

Hi Cheraz, 11000 is a decent Budget and since the room is decently big I believe 50% would be for Speakers and the the rest for the rest.. Speakers Being a Big room, floorstanders would be a good choice and the best I have heard in HT in order of my impressions are 1. M&K 850 (I think) for 5.1 and their Tripoles for making it a 7.1 2. Definitive technology BP 7000 series (AMAZING powered speakers..only problem is you need a power socket near each speakers hence ranked as no 2 else a clear no 1) 3. Klipsch Reference 7 setup with 2 RB7's for complete 7.1 4. I heard the Infinity Intermezzo & Kappa are aslo good but never got a changce to Audition. If you like the Boom factor particularly would suggest replacing the subwoofers of any of the Above with 1 or 2 SVS PCS+ sereis cylinders...I cannot describe their effect only problem is they have to be ordered direct from the US. 2. Receiver. My favorite is the Rotel RSP-1098. but i believe the Yamaha series provide the Best bang for the Buck with very good 7.1 processing. In case you are choosing the Klipsch (Which have an amazing sensitivity) you can even go for a 60-80 W/ch receiver as 1 Watt of input into these provide the same output as 30 W in any other speaker of 87dB...but otherwise go for at least 100 W/channel You can choose between Denon/Onkyo/Harman Kardon/Marantz.. I believe only Onkyo & HK have india dealers which would be important in case of warranty support or Minor repairs.. 3. DVD player. Pioneer/Marantz...so manyy but go for something With a Good pprogressive scan output...do not have too much of Knowledge here 4. Projector..A Huge range to shoose from and will need to be decided Base on placement (Ie ceiling on on table as well as distance from the screen) Good ones appear to be Marantz,Sharp and Mitsibushi....although that is a another market with lots of choices.. Cannot think of more info..as you can see my knowledge is more on the speakers that other stuff... |
