Hey! has any one heard about or auditioed Cayin A88T valve amps? How about the built SQ etc..

hi,

The Cayin and the Prima luna are almost one and the same thing.
Although i think the A88T has been discontinued.
Anyways if you are looking at buying one, then blindly
buy the prima luna prologue one. Infact i think the
prologue one is even cheaper than the Cayin.
Its priced at about 68k. Undoubtedly the best amp in
its class.

Snv, Cayin I understand made in China & reviews says good built etc..Where these Prima's are mnfd. How about this compared to SS amps like Nad, Rotel, MF etc..I know valves sound character & SS character are diff, I'm talking towards better tonal charecters & overall presentation of the music. Might looks like a silly qn, but I invite your inputs.

hi there,

Both Cayin and Prima Luna are made in China. Infact handmade in China.
Prima Luna is a dutch label.(netherland).
The prologue one is simply magnificient. Much more detailed
and transparent than any other solid state at that price.
Basically at that price you cant any better.
Stunning performance. good imaging and soundstage.
The prologue one uses the EL 34 valves, power is 35 watts.
Now it all depends what kinda music you listen to.
Cause obviously valve is not ideal for all kinds of genre.

valves rule my friend....give them a hearing !

Actually, it definately depends on peoples preferences but you ought to give them a patient hearing and then make a judgement on whether they do it for you or not.

For me its a no contest, valves are what my ears tell me is good for them.

If you are considering a valve amp, do yourself a favour and audition the lyrita valves.Give Viren a shout and see what he can do for you.
