Hi Everybody!!! Firstly, Thanks a million for your responses to my first topic "Speakers for NAD C352". Just one correction in that, I had auditioned the NAD C352 with the PSB Image 25B, really sorry for that slip!!!Hence, As suggested by all of you I have auditioned the following combinations. Please read my observations about them. I have ranked them according to my observations 1. NAD C352 and PSB IMAGE 25B -> I still felt that this is the best combination, in my view this combination suits the 60s & 70s rock'n'roll music (which is the kind of music that I hear). Its very bright, and the lower frequencies (bass guitars in particular) are good, though not of the highest order but still good enough for rock'n'roll stuff. One thing I want to add here is that I did heard Stevie Ray Vaughan on this combination, and since Stevie Ray played a lot of blues and jazz, still I found it very pleasing to listen to. 2. NAD C352 and Tannoy Fusion 3 -> This was another very very good combination. Fusion 3 being a floor stander, it obviously gave very good performance on the low frequencies. However, one very fine thing that I noticed was that even the higher frequencies were very nice to hear to. Still in my view it cannot compete with PSB on the higher frequencies. 3. NAD C52 and QUAD 11L -> This was a cool combination. Very very musical, I played a couple of songs from Jethro Tull on this.. And it played beautifully. However, I felt that the lower frequencies are not handled that well in this speaker. These were the three major combinations that I felt were the best among the ones I auditioned. I had also auditioned Wharfedale 8.4 Diamond, KEF Q4 both of which were pretty good but I felt they lacked a little in the higher frequencies. The Wharfedale Bookshelf series (Diamond 8 and 9) did not make much of an impact, which was the case with KEF Q- Compact Bookshelf also. I however, could not find Missions, Dynaudio or Paradigm dealers here in B'lore so I could not cover the whole range of choices that u gave. So guys!! I know that if you've reached in this message till here... you wont be killing me!!!! So... Manek, big-ears, Arj and binoy please let me know about your take regarding my choices... Thanks a lot once again!!! Regards, Prashant. |

I have not heard the fusion..but another tannoy (M3 ?) which sounded quite good to me i would very much concur with your perception. the Quad-Rotel combination sounded buch better than the Quad-NAD..but as you said no bass ! From your description you should definitely give the Dyns an audition as you might really like it . you can safely give the KEF/Mission models in this price range a miss. [Beitrag von Arj am 01. hi, Nad uses PSB speakers for its reference in their factory. The reason being that PSB is their group company. NAD and PSB are part of the lenbrook group. So there must be good synergies for the kind of music you listen to. Thats why I'm not too surprised you picked the image 25B and that just could be a good choice for you. PSB are decent speakers and quite a safe bet so if I were you and I liked the NAD PSB combo I would go for it. manek. |

Hi Prashant, Seems you have carried out a comprehensive study, and know exactly what you want! All 3 are decent speakers, but if it is the PSB / NAD combo that does it for you, you would not be going wrong there. PSB does offer great value for money. One suggestion before you lug them home, as Arj says, do check out Dynaudio. Their silk tweeters deliver wonderful highs, and their bass drivers with the 3 inch voice coils are something quite special. Maybe Prithvi can help you in auditioning them. |

Hi everybody!! You guys are cool!!! I can't thank you more than I've already done!!!! But still.... a BIG THANKS!!!! With regards to Dynaudio, I would like to know the price... Since my budget is pretty short, I cannot extend it beyond 30k as of now.. maybe 35k.. but definitely not more than that!!!!!!! So if its within these limits.. I'll definitely give it a shot. Thanks once again. Prashant. |

Prashant, If 35k is your limit then yopu can expand your prospective speaker list with Quad 12L, Cadence Arita, Dynaudio Audience 42/52. They are the top 3 bookshelves in the market for the price. Infinity Beta 20 bookshelf, B&W 602 S3 bookshelf B&W 602.5 S3(may or may not fit) B&W 309 floorstander if you bargain hard. Wharfedale Pacific Evo 100 or Evo 200 You may end up liking some of the above as well. Its best to hear as many models as possible in the price range before you decide on the right one. This will help you make an informed decision and a more confident one. The PSB is ddfinately a good choice but you never know when you find something more interesting so hear them out if you can. manek. |
