Yes they are superb, I remember there were problems with the LF in your room though, as they are very big. The Argons are stand mounts and more suited to standard urban rooms. Deaf |

Just a GENERAL Comment: Manufacturer's websites will ONLY list positive ( usually RAVE ) reviews of their products.. [Beitrag von Amp_Nut am 20. Jul 2009, 07:06 bearbeitet] |

I agree that rave reviews are always shown by the manufacturer. One must also appreciate that for a Finnish loudspeaker to get a rave review from a Danish magazine(Denmark-land of several top notch audio stuff) is commendable. Deaf. |

I would tend to agree with 'deaf' ! It is very difficult for a non British product to get a 'good' review in a British audio magazine as is for a speaker from Czech Republic [xn360.com] & Finland to score well in a Danish Audio Magazine. There is always a 'bias' against a product from 'another' country.... |

No need, will bring it to your abode for personal listen. Price is one good lunch at your place, extra terrestrial creatures like gods and Bhagwans must be allowed too. Deaf. |

hows everyone? My regards to you all! Spent most of last Saturday with Sridhar @ ARN, auditioned the Usher mini dancers with the Leben integrated tube- amps first. I have to admit, this setup impressed me more than the Cadence gear in many ways. I still think the Cadence setup is difficult to compete with when playing well-mastered and uncompressed music. The leben / mini dancers did not match up to the cadence gear when I played "Lotus Feet" ( Shakti) although on the other hand U2, Led-zep BBC sessions, Pearl Jam..sounded much much better, more musical and much more emotionally invoving. In comparison, The Cadence gear had actually made these sound very ordinary. We then moved on to EP CS 2.3 open baffle speakers, driven by the odyssey passive pre-amp and Jaton operetta power mp. Played jingo ( santana) once again on these speakers...and it was mind blowing. The amount of LF detail that you get credit for, was something i have never heard before. The upper mids and highs were a little tight though..however to be fair these speakers had barely 20 hrs on them. I am going to give it another couple of weeks by the time these are around the 150-175 hr mark and then visit Sridhar again flip side..The 2.3s are definitely beyond my budget, although the next time I will also be auditioning the CS3 which should work. The "elimating the room" concept is equally interesting. Havent seen any of the EP speakers above being reviewed on this forum, let me know what you guys think? Cheers! |

hey nice review. Have a heard good things on the EP speakers ..I think some Show reports have praised them a lot. Only "Problem" (if you want to call it that) is the multi amping requirement it has |

The cadence electrostats are hard to beat when listening to Jazz/Classical even when compared to speakers twice the price . As many of us mentioned earlier, if that is your staple diet, buy Cadence eyes closed but pair them with an amp better than VA-1 to really know what they are capable of. However don't expect them to play rock very well. The best speaker for rock I've heard so far is the older emerald physics CS2. Nothing comes remotely close in creating that experience of a rock concert. I haven't been able to judge the CS2.3 so far as it hasn't burnt in. First time I heard them, I wasn't convinced but they had a mere two hours on them. Need to go again when their showroom is ready. The only real issue with the speaker is that they need quite a bit of space to shine. Another point to note about your mini dancer audition - Sridhar uses a non oversampling DAC as the output. These are not the best for detail resolution. However the involvement and emotional quotient of a NOS DAC is very very high. I know cos I use the same thing :). [Beitrag von reignofchaos am 01. You bet, the "live sound" of the Emerald Physics is what makes it so different from the cabinet speakers that I have heard so far. [quote = "Arj"] Only "problem" (if you want to call it that) is the multi-amping requirement it has [/ quote] This will be a problem since I am looking at using the floorstanders for both my surround and 2 channel stereo amp. Probably proFx chat with the guys as to what my Opton are switching .. need to kill at least 2 birds with one stone. My current amp is a surround Denon AVR 2307 and I do not intend to use it as is for the stereo section. I have a very basic (rs 3000 change) Sony DVD player, the iPod dock and the box Tatasky hooked on to it for now. Getting an external DAC for the DVD player is definitely in, Wanted to check if I could hook up an external pre-amp to the Denon (dont think it has a pre-in option though) ... or use the Denon pre-out and hook up an external power amp, which then goes into the external cross-over. I am trying not to get into the option of a separate set of cables for the stereo amp to the external cross-over ... Cannot see myself changing cables 5 times a day. |

I'd say keep the denon out of the stereo setup. Its totally not worth putting it in and messing up the sound. If you need a not so expensive, high quality preamp, I suggest you look at Lyrita Audio. Its incredibly good for the sub 30k price that you pay for it. For the power amp, you could look at the Odyssey or Jaton Operatta. Otherwise if your budget accomodates it, the Leben Integrated amps are totally mind blowing. |

Biamping requirement is only needed for the CS2.3, the CS3 can still be driven by a stereo pre/power or an integrated with a tape loop. The CS2.3 cuts off the bass response (to the bass woofers) at a 100 Hz and is fairly easy load to drive. The amp for the bass woofers as such dont need to be of very high quality (if this tradeoff needs to be made). cheers |
