The new midrange was developed by Wilson Audio, and the new tweeter better addresses the driver's back-wave reflections. There are also new crossovers, and the cabinet now includes a cool-looking rear window that gives easier access to the resistors and Propagation Delay Correction hardware. It also improves the speaker cabinet's resonance characteristics. Current X-2 owners can upgrade their speakers to include all of the sonic enhancements but not the new back plate. A New - Monster / Reference that has been launched by Wilson Audio. Comments :- ? ? ? |

Very industrial looking speaker now made more industrial by the back plate They have some funny colours in the range, if my memory serves me right, most of the colours are same as that available for Porsche. The options allowed at the rear plate may turn out to be Tweaker's delight and installers nightmare ! Love to hear one of them in a real world setting. Regards Ani |

True, but that is the approach of Wilson. Even their entry level book shelf speaker has the same option; in a seperate out board x-over for speaker placement, on wall, near wall, stand mount etc. The X-2 [old version] I did listen to 2 years back in Taipei & I liked them. The Electronics were from Goldmund. |

Cool looking , even if the colours in the photo appear more suitable( IMHO,IMHO!)for a teenage girls scooty than a hi end Audio Spkr. Wonder how the pantheon would measure up- not too long to wait to know... |

Wilsons are a “hate it” or “love it” speaker. The sound from these usually get extreme reactions from audiophiles. |

heard the exact same setup in singapore in 2003. was hugely underwhelmed (maybe due to the hype) my favourite of that show was the AvantGarde Duo |

ani, i really do not know about the Bass response (ie below 40Hz). but for midrange and lower Bass , a Good horn has tho most "are there" factor. it is magic with an SET. unfortunately most popular horns are in the treble which is not where it really shines (IMHO Ribbons and the more expensice plasma are the kings in that region) but for interest sake would be interested to hear Avant gardes Bass horn. Living Voice also has somethiing called and Air Scout on the same lines I believe. |

hi ani, there's a good section from the links above in the same page. they have a huge 12 piece horn loaded bass unit which can be bought piece by piece, huge metal and wood units, and how they work and why they're good. just brushed through it so wont be able to answer you in detail. regards |
