Hi all

I have lot of Vinyl LPs. I want to convert to mp3 format. Do any of you have any suggestion on the software? I would like to filter out the scratching inevitable sounds from LPs.

I tried free downloads from the internet buy I could not locate any rippers to reduce scratching sounds. Any good software avaialble in Bangalore?

I have Sonodyne Turn Table and Marantz PM 17 mkII Inregarted Stereo amp with a tape out.

What hardware are you using for recording the input? That is probably the cause of screeching sounds. MP3 is a big no-no... try flac instead.

Hi RRao,
Do you think this conversation can be linked up with the one we had earlier on conversion from vinyl to cd? I have just put in a post there and it may be of mutual interest. Also we can avoid repeating what we went through just last month.

Hi Purnendu

Sure we can do it. Since I am a new member and could not get sufficient time to browse through all the postings, I started off as a new thread.

Thanks for letting me know that sufficient discussions have taken place on this topic of my interest.

I am not sure how do we link to the existing link. Pl help me out.

Scratching, not screeching! This is caused by the record itself and not by the recording hardware...

And why should mp3 be a "no-no"? Nobody can distinguish between a 256kBit/sec mp3 and the Original - anybody, who really tried it, failed miserably!
