Most of the times my stereo used to sound sibilant. Changing to tubes did not benefit either.
After a long and arduous effort i concluded the problem was intense RFI/EMI (maybe im still wrong).
I changed VDH the First to VDH D102 which VDH site claimed to be better in handling RFI/EMI and i have put torroid cores on all power cords and speaker cables. This has vastly improved the sound.
Still, i think this sound can be bettered with shielded interconnects and speaker cables.
Can anyone suggest me some good shielded interconnects and cables.
Thank you

hi....I use the d102 hybrid too and love it.
maybe cables with active shielding may help ? I know of a person in bangalore who makes cables with actve shielding called MR murthy....prithvi can put you in touch with him.

Thanks Manek,
You have always been a gr8 help.
Yesterday i wrapped 4-5 turns over one another the L&R intercnnects of VDH 102. I got a noticeable improvement . I followed the same procedure with The First and got a huge improvement. The bass was astounding ...never heard my cable sounded so good before. Tried 3-4 times twisting and untwisting the interconnects with the same result. The twisted one always better. But what i have read on net that twisting these interconnects raises capacitance with a crosstalk. Further im not sure whether it's ok for my system.?
Now i have decided to go for shielded or braided cables.
How do u think Kimbers are? They are braided and supposed to reject RFI/EMI?
Further, have you heard Mr.Murthy's cable?

Hi,
I have not heard murthy's cables. I only know that he makes them.

I have another solution which may work for you. Why dont you try and source some teflon tubing/tape and wrap it round your interconnects ? That may work. I'm not sure if 4 twists raise capacitance by a lot in your interconenct but for crosstalk you have a point. Since vdh are low capacitance cables I dont see much of an issue. You could also try covering your empty and exposed input/output rca jacks in your amp with dummy rca plugs(not shorted) and tape them with teflon tubing.

I have heard a few kimbers like the 4tc, 8tc, pbj, hero etc. Baring the pbj, the other are excellent but very pricey. What system do you have ?

Hi Guys,
I'm a user of Finesse products which are made by Mr. Murthy in Bangalore. All my interconnects (balanced and unbalanced)are made by him as well as all the power cords I use. I have one shielded power cable which is the "Finesse Ref PWR Active-1" cable with 24V DC shielding. I use it with my power amp. I am extremely happy with his products and proud that they are made in India! Sonic improvements are apparent and the finish and appearance are second to none.

Murthy is extremely quality concious and he tests all his cables at a lab which I believe is as good as what MIT Cables use to test their own cables, using the same parameters. I also use his equipment rack, video cables, isolation platform, bass traps and 3KVA power conditioner.

Finesse do make a interconnect with active shielding to the best of my knowledge. Prithvi is the person to contact for Finesse products.

there you go....one ratification on the goodness of finnesse products from murthy.....why dont you ask for a trial ? interconnects are very easy to ship by courier for a trial !

may do you a world of good, if it doesnt then it was a learning experience !

believe you me, the audio market in India is waking up and you do have a few gentlemen and ladies who are making world class products so its definately worth a try.

Most importantly I do believe that if we dont give a chance to or encourage our local talent then who will ? Most other foreign products are tigers in their own back yard and they got that way only by local support. I'm not saying go buy trash but if you do find a local product which is as good as the imports please encourage you local people.

My system :

Stereo: NAD C370 amp, Cayin TA30 amp, Nad C542 Cdp, Marantz Cd6000 OSE , Cadence Diva, VDH The First, VDH D 102, VDH The Royal Jade.

HT : Harman Kardon ADP 303 DD Processor, Nad 214 Power Amp (Bridged) for centre, Old Teac amp for surrounds, Cadence Arita for centre, Klipsch RS-III for surrounds, VDH Videlink 75, VDH The Optocoupler, VDH The Patchbay with local plugs.

Another set of speakers and i will have a seperate system for my bedroom but first i have to make things right. All these years i have replaced few amps and cdps hoping to get better sound but all these upgrades are waste till the RFI/EMI problem is solved.

Does anyone has Prithvi's number?

Hi!
I too have the VDH Revelations and according to VDH you must not do more than 3 turns per meter. This applies to inter-connects and spk cables, stick to the norms and see/hear the differences.

I have taken the two individual revelations (1 for +ive & 1 for -Ive) and then twisted them 3 times per running meter lenght. Could not believe the diff from non twisted. Try lifting the cables off the floor, u will hear the difference if ur system resoultution is high enough.

heh heh stevie boy....these hints and threats we have all recvd from our spouses but the hobby lives on. Where there is hi-fi there is a way !

As I said before the best way to handle this is to try and introduce her to the world of hi-fi and make her a hi-fi junkie. My friend has managed to do that and guess what, he can buy whatever he wishes without a sound from the wife. As a matter of fact now he listens to his wifes tastes in hi-fi products more !!! Fortunately his tastes and her tastes kinda match.

I read this on VDH website. They have recommended 3 twists per metre on there interconnects and speaker cables where there is a RFI problem but i never tried putting torroid on interconnects thinking that they will damage it.
Today i got two small cores and ran the left and right interconnect through them giving just one turn. By doing this i got better sound than from twisting the IC's together
