You liked his daughter, and you forget his name !!! Too much.

Venture Audio - Mr. Didi.

The speaker was his entry level product.

I too liked that a lot. The sound I mean - not his daughter [she sure was cute !!]

Nice one sir;
The fact that we all remember - 18 months have gone by, it self shows that we all share a common interest & that goes a bit beyond audio !!

Keep it coming. I like the light side of things too.

P.S. She sure had a nice 'base' no doubt !!!
If dear DIDI ever reads our forum, we will never be in a position to say hi to him, let alone listen to his great speakers !!!

Sir, you think he didn't know what you were up to.Poor guy went squint, between trying to talk to the rest of us with regards to audio, and what you were doing(non-audio). .

Like Bhagwan said, bring it on! I (also) like the lighter side of things (I serious too soon & carried away!)

I've had a good laugh reading your post exchanges. Thanks for the same!

No reading sir.
You must hear it, form an opinion for your self.
That is the only way to proceed.
I am tired of these audio magazine reviews and the politics of commercian press etc.

Listen / Evaluate and Judge.

Simple and straight.

Bhagwanji Maharaj,IF it is not possible to audition something firsthand(e.g.the Kharmas,in this case), then a review written by a trusted person(e.g. a Forum member whose views & experience you have learnt to respect)is the next best thing(e.g. don't we all love to watch blue movies?!!! how many persons pass up a chance to do so saying-Yaar, if you cant DIY whats the point of watching some one else?-good point, I think!)
Of course, commercial reviews should mostly be viewed with some scepticism, you don't know how many of the wah, wahs are genuine and how many paid for.

Kamalji,
I would love to write about it [Kharma or any other] but I suggest that each and every 'audiophile' should make an effort to go and audition set ups in their own city as far as possible.
That too with an open mind.
Form an opinion, that is very very important. But that opinion should be based on pure performance, regardless of 'brand' and 'price'.

Your 'porn' example was great, but in the case of audio, you may never 'own' the set up that you audition, but you sure can experiance it so as to form an opinion on it. Good or Bad is a personal call, but at least hear it.

P.S. You still have to go to listen to the Xavian's in ND. Doc was to fix up an evening, what happened ? Make the effort, go out, listen to different set ups. It will widen your horizon that is all. No down side to it !!

Dear Bhagwanji Maharaj (stealing Kamal's phrase) !

Kamalji was not well (I don't know whether it was DIY or porn ), therefore, we couldn't make it for the audition. May be next week or so.

Dear Bhagwan, like Sanjay said, we will surely go and audition the Xavians when I'm better,BOTH because we really like listening to difft set ups and also becuase we like sharing our experiences with other forum members thru detailed posts;I believe reviews by experienced forum members do carry a high value-if you cant hear it yourself, someone else's experience does add to your knowledge.
I would love to hear the Kharmas if someone in Delhi possessed a pair-else I would have to rely on other members to share their thoughts.
So, there is much merit in reviewing & sharing with others!

well even our friend 'Mr. Kharma' may have a budget constraint, could not buy the 'top of the line' from Kharma & purchased the 2nd model.

Are you saying Mr.Kharma couldnt arrange for the money to buy the top of the line Kharma
I suppose affordability itself has become too subjective and warrants a seperate thread to discuss

Hello A.P. !

I am not suggesting that Mr. K 'could not afford' the Top of the Line Kharma !!!!
I am sure he can / could have purchased it if he so desired.
It may not have been on his 'priority' or 'desire list'.
I do not know, if ever I meet him, I will surely ask.

In audio as in any 'luxury product' category;
First the person has to have the 'means'
Second he has to have the 'desire'
Third it has to be on his list of 'priority'

As you suggested, a seperate thread would be apt to discuss this !!

I love the concept of all this expensive gear coming in.I really want to know whether they are being optimised to their full potential, because from my limited experience I have realised few people are willing to go the full lenght to make these setups spectacular. What I mean is expensive gear is by no means a promise of great sound, infact if anything it ia a promise of woes, because they demand tremendous care in setup and enviroments, which if not met ends up making them sound like er....thats it,HIFI(not music)

deaf, IMHO, buyers of expensive stuff do not necessarily buy it for its performance Only.

There is also the 'Pride Of Ownership'

I wonder if all buyers of fancy sports cars ever push their m/cs to the limits of their performance.

Just being seen in one, turns heads and provides ownership value of a different sort...

Even Chicks are supposed to fall for guys in fancy cars ... I'll never know

Centuries ago, Kings and royalty patronised excellence and their creators by rewarding the craftsmen handsomely. This spurred the persuit of excellence, which in some way or another ( probably after many years ) trickle down to the common user.

I do not sneer at the rich buyer ( neither am I sggesting that deaf does ! ) but welcome their contibution... in their own way, to the pursuit of excellence in HiFi !

One more aspect ... maybe when they turn their attention to a new / better product, the earlier product will be available at a somewhat more realistic price for us mortals

That is how I bought my Sonus fabor Extrema speakers... prices at US $ 12,500 a decade ago.

Thats what I asked Faisal too.
He said that they would be part of a ultra high end HT set up--beats me, really.
You were really lucky to have got hold of SFE's at such a throwaway price-hope I can also land a bargain like this some day!

Till last year they were for about 1.75 L (negotiable). Has there been an upwards price revision on used products

Please do re-read Viren's comment above

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to add my thoughts.....

1. I have Never met Mr Faisal, ( would certainly love to meet him, though ).

From Heresay, he does offer a VERY wide range of Super Fi products.... best of all, Im told that he does offer Aggressive pricing... on bargaining.

Here-say is that he got the SF Extremas back from a Very prominent Laywer, who bought the new SF ( Nah not the Top-Of-Line Stradivarius ). Hence, his price would, I guess reflect his buy back discount.

However, dont go by numbers, if you are Serious, I am sure he will provide a great price.

2. I am told that here in Mumbai, there is a pair of SF Extremas with a Blown tweeter. Could go Cheap if someone is willing to to ....

3. Incidentally, IF I did not have the SF Extremas, I could happily live with the Cadence ARCA ( ? ) which are available, factory refurbed & with factory warranty for Rs 70 K.

Thanks for the correction, Shahrukh.

My knowledge of Sanskrit is practically zero ( except for the little overlap of some words of spoken Hindi )

Hence most of the Cadence model names are Gibirish to me, and tough to remember & co-relate....

Ceramic Midrange ???

I am not so sure, but some 'info' that was flying around just settled on my ears - may be fully incorrect, but just wanted to know if any of the Forum members from Bangalore can get it varified.

The Kharma Equisite Reference speaker [the one installed in Bangalore] that is being used with Oracle + Remiyo + Plinus etc. had had some problems.
Apparantely the Ceramic Mid Range drivers have been rendered 'non usable'
I am told the T & P Diamond Tweeters are OK [Thank God].

Just the Ceramic Midrange's have 'blown' and they need to be replaced.

If this is true, very sad indeed.
I do hope that some one [old distributor / new distributor] comes forward and supports the sale & the matter is rectified a.s.a.p.

Gentlemen Please HELP !
