The Band - Live at the Academy of Music 1971 (4 CDs + 1 DVD)



CD-1 und -2 des Boxsets präsentieren alle von The Band während jenes Engagements gespielten Songs. CD-3 und -4 enthalten den direkten Mischpult-Mitschnitt des gesamten Konzerts vom Silvesterabend 1971. Auf den 4 CDs befinden sich insgesamt 19 bisher unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen.

Van Morrison - Moondance (4 CD / BD-A DTS-HD Master)

Ganz gut gemacht. Klanglich top. Trotzdem, wer die Scheibe in MCH schon hat (download oder in USA gekauft), wird kaum Unterschiede finden. Schön sind, studienhalber, die verschieden Studioversionen, aber muß ist das nur für Morrison-Fans. Die BluRay (im teuren Pack) enthält entgegen der Werbung keinen DTS-Track sondern nur Dolby-HD, der klingt etwas dürftig. Jedenfalls läuft bei mir die Stereo-CD klanglich am Besten. Das wirklich schöne Buch fiel schon beim ersten Öffnen auseinander. Ich habs zurück geschickt.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer classic album Brain Salad Surgery will be re-released as an extended Super Deluxe edition on April 7 next year, it’s been confirmed.

The “ultimate expansion” treatment has been announced on the 40th anniversary of its original appearance in November 1973.

Packaged in the famous artwork by HR Giger, the new edition will include 5.1 mixes, previously unreleased material and more.

ELP say: “We are amazed that after 40 years, so much of the original recordings, photos and artwork are still usable. Some of it has never been released before, but it’s fascinating to hear how the recordings progressed. We are delighted that this new version will reveal some of these transitions.”

The prog supergroup’s fourth album was the first to appear on their Manticore imprint. Encapsulated by the phrase “Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends,” it carried the half-hour magnum opus Karn Evil 9 along with their reinterpretation of Jerusalem, Lake’s track Still… You Turn Me On, Benny The Bouncer and Emerson’s adaptation of Albert Ginestera’s Toccata.

Sony Music / Legacy Recordings add: “Brain Salad Surgery will receive a 40th anniversary celebration worthy of its genre-defining place in history.

“It’s an album that saw Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer displaying more creativity than most bands achieve in their whole lifetime.”

Meine persönliche Meinung:

Einen neuen 5.1 Mix auch wenn er von Jakko Jakszyk erstellt wurde hätte es nicht unbedingt bedurft. Der Kelogg Mix (SACD/DVD-A) ist ok auch wenn er eigentlich ein Quad-Mix mit einem Phantomcenter ist.
Vielmehr hätte er an Trilogy arbeiten sollen damit mal was neues Surroundiges an unsere Lauscher kommt.

Wenn das wieder so eine 5CD/DVD Box für 100 Euronen wird lasse ich sie aus.

Genau daher, woher auch zunächst die Meldung kam.

Einer aus dem Forum hat direkten Kontakt zu Steven Wilson und er hat es dementiert.

Das neue RPWL Album Wanted wird einen 5.1 mix bekommen.
Release im März.

Des weiteren werden dieses Jahr The Yes Album (im Frühjahr) und Going For The One (gegen Herbst) von Yes.

Ja, das mit der Gentle Giant ist blöd.

Damit will ich vor allem die Roger Waters Scheibe nicht schmälern, die war/ist schon als CD einer meiner Lieblinge und die Gentle Gient ist defintiv auch was nettes, achja von Yes kommt noch was und Ian Anderson hat ja auch noch eine Scheibe die die Tage rauskommt ... hmmmm, ist doch gar nicht so schlecht

Anathema "Distant Satellite" erscheint am 9.6.14 ebenfalls in 5.1

Gibt mehrere Editionen, 2 enthalten die Mch Scheibe, also auch preislich dann je nach gusto. Steven Wilson sass bei 4 der Songs wohl mit am Mixer. Ich freu mich drauf. Und im Herbst ist Anathema dann auch Live in meiner Nähe.
