Hi guys.

Hope it's OK to post in English.

The issue im having is that I have a decoderstation 3 and the rear left output sporadically stops working. Sometimes giving a few taps to the side of the case fixes it. Anyone familiar with this unit know if this can be fixed? Maybe a loose wire inside attached to this connector? I tried to open it to look and removed the back screws, but couldn't figure out how to open the casing.

Any tips would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hi,

There is a hint here to open the case:

Instructions: Open Teufel Decoderstation 3

If a mechanical effect leads to an improvement, this indicates loose contacts. These can be loose connectors but also cold solder joints. In the worst case, there may also be cracks in the circuit board.

Thanks very much. I'll have a look and see if I can see a problem with the connection so.

I opened it up. There doesn't seem to be any visible damage to the board and all the solder looks ok. When I put it back together the rear left was not working again. A few more taps to the side of the case got it running again though. So I don't know. You think I should resolder the joints for the output pins, or maybe it's something else?

It is still a loose contact.
Have you ever renewed the RCA cables - not that they are defective.

Otherwise, the soldered joints of the RCA plugs tend to break.

Furthermore, a remote diagnosis is very difficult with a loose contact and you have to search for it yourself and also measure it.

The cables are new, and I swapped 3 sets and all the same. So I guess it's the solder on the rca connectors. I'll resolder and see how that goes. Thanks mate

Instead of a loose contact, it can also be a ground contact (short circuit) in a signal line. Possibly also to the housing / GND.
